Hie (the Duke'a) eon Scott, afterwards the Duke of Portland alias Druce, was her father's great friend. Hβ called her "little cousin," and wanted to marry her, but her father refused to allow it. When shown a photograph of Druoo wearing o beard witness exclaimed, "That's dear old Scott."

Mrs Hamilton said that Druco always carried * beard in his pockot. He told her he was always Druce when he wore the beard. When she asked why he kept tho Baker street bazaar he replied, "It's a very good thing. It makes lote of money." Witness visited Walbeok in 1840, and saw Druce there. When she addressed him as Druce he said to her: "I am always ficott Portland to you." He spoke about hie sons, George and Herbert, and told her George was in Australia. Hβ meant to leave, him £1000. Her father said that wag not much. Druce replied: "Quite enough for him." She and her father met Druce in London in 1864. He said: "Madge, I am going to die." She replied, "You don't look like if." Her father said that he (Druoe) was going to cease to be Druce, and was going; to have a mock funeral. Druoe suggested getting a corpse from a hospital or a> workhouse, but her father suggested the use of bricks or lead. Her lather attended the funeral. TO TBK SDITOB O» "TBS FBCSS." Sir,-4 see in to-day 5 * 'Tress" a letter signed "On the Watch' stating that the main witness in the Druce oaee, Mrs Roberison (or Robinson) had amongst other things a grand piano, a wedding present from her father. Now I lived.,pt 113 Montreal street with • Mrs Rooerteon from January, 1899, until. Deoemberj 1903. during which time .ahe had no grand! piano, but I had! I can't help thinking that my piano, brought out from Berlin by myself, and sold in December. 19Q2. (to a pupil) on my leaving Ohrietohqrcfc for a trip to-England, has been mistaken for Mrs Robertson's. If "On the Watob", will give ua the date of hie or her residence at 112 Montreal street, we oan easily prove the truth of Mrs Roberteon's statement. Hoping you can find room for this letter.—-I am, etc., ESTHER ATKINSON. 108 Montreal street, November 26.
