Barr, owner of Parole, who ran second to Disastrous in the District Welter Race at tho Ohoka ar.d Eyreton Meeting on October 4th, entered a' protest against Disastrous receiving the stakes, on the ground that he did not comply with the conditions as a district horse but tho club dismissed his pr<JXest. and he appealed to the Canterbury Jockey Club, who have upheld the appeal. Tlio following, is the decision of the Metropolitan Club:—ln the matter of the appeal of J. Barr against a decision of the Ohoka and Eyr?to:i Jockey Club, who dismissed his protest against Disastrous, the winner of tho District Welter Handicap, mv at Ohoka on October lib, 1007, tho condition with regard to a district raco is as follows: —Disirict Race means that horses and owners must be permanent residents between the rivers Conway, Amuri and Wuimakariri, for at least three months prior to the race. It is admitted that Di.astrous was trained at Riccarton from July 23th. over two months immediately prior to the rac., and was not in tho district during that timo. The committee dec;d? that Disastrous was not eligible to start in the District "Welter Handicap, and they uphold the appeal. NOTES. Entries for tho Dunedin Jockey Club's Summer Meeting close this evening, also nominations for tho Avondale Slakes and Avondale Guineas.
