4 (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) BALCLUTHA, November 19. Tho Ota_o Methodist Synod met this morning at Balcliitha, tho Rev. W. Slndo, president of the Conference, beins? in the chair. Tlie Rev. T. N. Griffon, of Oanmrn, was elected secretary. Mr W. Howe, of Polmerston, wos recommended to tho Conference as a candidate for tlie ministry. Mr E. Rosevere, the district secretary of Church properties, read n report which showed considerable progress, the total value of property in the district being over .£IO.OOO. Foreign mission matters were dealt with, and a resolution was passed requesting the Mission Board to arrange for an extended visit to Xew Zealand of the Rer. W. E. and Mm Bromilow, for seventeen years tho leaders in the New Guinea Methodist Mission. In the evening - n public welcome was tendered to the Synod, :ind was largely attended. It was addressed by Mr A. .S. Malcolm. M.H.R., the Mayor, the Revs. W. Slado end C. H. Laws, and Mr J. Stead.
