ASHBURTON.
At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr V. G. Day. S.M., Valentino Joyce was fined os and costs for failing to eend a thirteen-year-old child to school. Arthur White, for riding a bicycle after dark without a light, wee fined 10s. while J. McCormack and Michael Tully were each fined 20s and costs for hauling traction engine waggons having tyres of under six inches in width, and J. W. Oliver was similarly penalised for driving his traction engine in nits. Judgment by default wa*. given in the case of W. Bryant and J. J. Dineen (Mr Kennedy) V F. Collier, claim £6. In a judgment summons case. W. G. McDonald v W r . E. Forward/claim £2 9s lOd, en order for immediate payment, in default one week's imprisonment, -was made. Mr V. G. Day. S.M., granted an old ago pension at £26, and a renewal at £20, yesterdc;. There was a. large attendance at the Orchestral Society's third nnd last concert of the season, which was given in the Oddfellows' Hall on Thursdnv evening. _ The orchestral and instrumental items were much enjoyed, and !ru ■ so . loLsts — Madame iWnstein (Chnstohureh) and Mr <1<- Looze (I imam)—created an excellent impression.
