The Melbourne correspondent of the "Sydney Daily Telegraph" telegraphed, on the 6th inst: — The export Sydney jockey, E. Thompeon, to-dey got into serious trouble at the Ascot Meeting, through his disobedience at the start for tho Two Thousand event. In tho previous raw he we* fined 10s by the starter for disobedience. Thompson," who had the mount on Good Rose in the Two Thousand race>, drew number 13 *.a his position nt tho starting barrier. Ho was requested to take th«t position by the starteT when the horses were called up. but he refitted point blank to do so, and took Good Rose inlo third position from the rails, wh<>ro she received two severe kicks from First Rose. Even then Thompson steadily persisted in hi» refusal to bring his mount out to its allotted place. Finally the starter ordered the clerk of the oouiro to lead the horse out to its position, but Thompson dared that official to touch his mount, and abused him and the starter for their interference- Tho race resulted in a victory for Good Rose. After the event the behaviour of Thompson was brought under the notice of the stipendiary stewards. Thompson was thereupon tent for, and. shedding tears of contrition, he admitted his misbehaviour, and eaid he objected to the position he had drawn at the starting post on the ground that 13 wae an unlucky number. The- stewards disqualified Thompson for a pericd of six month:.
