STATE TRIAL MATCHES.
MELBOURNE, November 12. In a match between the Victorian first eleven and the next fifteen, the former soored 211, and the next fifteen 262. The match wee drawn. Mo Kenzie, a colt, playing for the eleven, ecored 66. Tarrant took three wickets for 51. SYDNEY, November 12. The next thirteen'e innings closed for 361. The first eleven lost" four wickets for 336; Trumper 160, and Noble 86. The match traa drawn. CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association won held Jaat evening, there being present; —Messrs F. C. Raphael (chairman), J. N. Fowke, D. Reese, S. A. Orchard. J. Young, 0. Caygill, F. H. Labatt, •nd D. H. Thomson (hon. sec.) A letter from Mr A. Hardy (secretary) was read, etating that the Umpires' Association were practically defunct, end he had failed to get a quorum of members to attend c meeting. It was resolved that the secretary of the Cricket Association call a meeting of umpires, with the object of reorganising the Umpires' Association. It wee decided to invite the Elleeroetfe, Ashley, end North Canterbury Associations to tend teams to Chriatcburch to play during the New Year holiday* The secretary reported having acoepted the offer of the Hagley Park Ground Committee to let the ground for the Auckland-Canterb'ttrj (Plunkfit Shield) match on December 16th, for one-sixth of the gross takings, the Association pay ell outgoings. The secretary's action was approved. Messrs Caygill. Reese and Thomson, were appointed to make arrangements in connection with the match. It was reported that their Excellencies the Governor end Lady Plunket would be nnabl© (owing to prior engagement*) to be prevent at the first challenge match for the Plunket Shield. Mr Reese suggested that the leading residents of the city be invited to hold ground parties at Hegley Park on the occasion of the metchj, and the matter was relegated to the sub-committee previously appointed. It was resolved to play the OtagoCanterbury match on Lancaster Park. The Wellington Association's proposed dates (let, 2nd. and 3rd January) for the Canterbury match at Wellington, were accepted. It was decided to invite the South Canterbury team to visit Christchurch for the purpose of playing the Canterbury representative eleven on the sth and 6th December. It wee arranged to send a junior representative team to Orago to play on Christmas and Boxing Days, the Association to provide the railway far**. Messrs Thomson, Jackman, and Clarkson were appointed a Selection Committee. The roport of the New Zoaland Cricket Council's sub-committee on the qualification of representative players, .together with the definitions, wore approved, j»n addition being suggested making it clear (in the rules governing the Plunket Shield matches) t-hat o player must bo residing within the district io% which ho purposes playing. On Saturday Harewood defeated Addington A teem by 38 rune on the first innings: Adtiington 26 runs, Harewood 64 runs. For Harewood H. Reid made 20 rune, Marks 11 mns;for Addington, Grammer 12 runs. Cobden and Wateon bowled best for Harewood, and Grammer and Streeter for Addington. Addington batted four men short.
