Tlie Canterbury Flying Club flew a race from Clinton on Saturday. Owing to the hampers niis«ug the train they did cot reach their destination in timo for a proper" liberaton. Tha birds were liberated by the *tationmaisler at 11.45 a.m., with a "south-west vind behind them, but only one member timed in, Mr F. D. Wilson's Waimate 11., which traversed the ;J4IS mile* 1650 yard* in (lira "mm 36aec, at a velocity of il34yds per minutv.
