Tho Japanese women assisted their husbaiuls, srpplying broken bottles from tlieir lioines.

Air Aiishu, who is investigating the question of emigration to America, arrived amidst tho rioting, but the. carriage reached the Consulate safely.

Tho Japanese Consul states that the windows of 56 Japanese establishments in Powell street were destroyed, and claims will be presented to the city forthwith. Hβ has cabled to the Japanese Embassy in London particulars of tho riot. Ho declares that iie regards tho incident as much, moro important than tho San Francisco troublo.
Air Bethune declares that the city will not pay for any damage.
OTTAWA, September 10. Air Nosse, Japanese Consul at Ottawa, and Sir Wilfrid Laurier informally discussed the rioting. It is understood that Canada will make reparation. Meanwhile tho negotiations to restrict Japanese immigration will continue.
