Playing against Leicestershire, Hobbs made 96 runs, completing his 2000 rune for the present season.
Tho annual report of the Linwood Cricket Club states that the club is in an excellent position. Starting the year -with a debit balance of £5 03 4d, tho club concluded their year with a credit balance of £9 10s 3d. As far as the results of competitions were concernod, the club had had but poor success, none of tho teams winning any of them. This was attributed to tho many counter attractions of tho Exhibition year, •which considerably reduced the attendances at practices. The club wns represented in interprovincial matches by Mr S. A Orchard and in the second grade representative match against Otago by Messrs By mo and Kinvig. The trophy bat given by Mr S. Orchard for the most promising player of the third or fourth grade teams was awarded to At A. H. Winchester.
