ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE.
On Wednesday evening the Ambulance and Nursing Divisions of the" St. John Ambulance Brigade met in the Association's rooms, for the purpose ot saying faiewell to Mr Alexander Crow, the hon. secretary of the Ambulance Division, who is shortly leaving Christchurch to reside in Wellington. The honorary surgeon, Dr. H. Me.L. Inglis, presented tho guest of the '■veiling with a silver-mounted and engraved walking stick, and in making tho presentation said that he hoped Wellington would find Mr Crow as valuable a member of the Association as Christchurch had. Not only had Mr Crow's services been at the disposal of his own Division, but he had rendered tho greatest assistance and willing help to the Nursing Division and the Association generally.
Mr Crew, in returning thanks, said the Brigade in Christ-church was growing rapidly, and the Nursing Division was tho best ladies' Division in the colony. The increase in membership had been from 17 to 30 in the Ambulance Division inside of six months, and new members wero coming in every week. Mr Crow also spoke of the value of the knowledgo and training given by the St. John Ambulance Brigade throughout the colony. The St John Ambulance Association and it divisions were aiding in teaching the laws of health and tho care of the sick to the people of the colony, and it was to be hoped that tho Government wculd givo somo financial support, as was done in a good many parts of England and Australia. Corporal Engdahl made a short farewell sneech in Swedish, and songs were contributed by Nurse Morris, and Mr G. T. Catto.
