DUNEDIN, August 30. For the first time on record, coal is to bo sent away from Kaitangata by sea. Some time ago the auxiliary scow Magic created au impression by venturing into this "porf' with a load of pit props. The event showed that Kaitangata could bo tappet! in more ways than by railway. Now tho business is to go a step further, the New Zealand '.__ ol! Company having found a market for Otago sea borne coal in Wellington. The Magic is loading for that place at Kaitangata. Work is apparently not scare in Dunedin. Thirty navvies were wanted for a water-race work at Waikaia, at a wage of 9s a day, but the. Labour Department has only been able to engage a dozen men.
Over £5000 has been collected in aid of the V.M.C.A. Building Fund.
