Ho states that he is pursuing a campaign for cheapening postage and cablegrams. He hopes that in a few weeks penny postage will bo in operation between America and Great Britain. BURNED TO DEATH. MELBOURNE, August 3. A brother and sister named Mills, both over seventy years of age, wore burned to death in a small cottage at Carlton. A search of the premises revealed documents and cash representing nearly £16,000. SCHOONER SUNK. ADELAIDE, August 30. The Everton Grange, proceeding down tho Port river, struck and sank tho schooner Oscar Robinson. The crew wero rescued. NEW SOUTH WALES ELECTIONS. (Recoived August 31st, 1.1 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 30. The election nominations have closed. Four Labour candidates and one Ministerialist have been returned unopposed.
