SHIPPING NOTES.
The A. and A. line steamer Katun*, from New York, via way porta, arrived yeirterday morning and berthed at No. 6 whirl. The vessel is discharging 370 tons of cargo here, «nd ie to ea.il at noon to-day for Dunedin to complete discharging. After that the vessel crocs to Sydney for docking, and thence to Newcastle. She has b«en fixed on time charter to the Commonwealth. The Katuna ie owned by the Bucknall Steamship Lines, and ie quite * new vessel, having been laughed only a few months ago. The vessel, which is now on her maiden voyage, is a fine type of the modern tramp, and is fitted with all the up-to-date appliances
for the rapid handling el oergo, of which she carries about 9000 tone. Captain A. . I** ih in coniniaud of the vessel, which is manned with a I*ascar crew. .
