MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Mr H. W. Biehop, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Thomas Kelly was charged with being en habitual drunkard, in that he had been four times previously convicted within the last nine months. The accused was a young man, and the only convictions against him were for drunkenness. The Magistrate said he w*s quite willing to give accused one more chenoe. He would, however, issue a prohibition order ageinet him. The accused consented to the order and the Magistrate fined him 10a and oosteJ, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
Elizabeth Chisnall was charged with, having, on August 12th, at Richmond, stolen the sum of £4 Bs, tho property of Mabel Money. The accused had been remanded in order to give her time to refund the money, but on her appearance yesterday morning she stated that it was impossible for her to get all the money, and she could only pay back 30s. She would be willing to pay the balance at the rate of 10s a week. The Magistrate said thit only for tho accused's children, he would send her to gaol. He would allow her to pay the money back at the rate of 10s a week, and order her to come up for sentence when called upon.
