Owing to the absence of an important witness, whom the police a <> endeavouring to find, the case was .idjoumed for a month. Andrew Topping sued the executors of the late A. hi. Peacho for i'2B for cattle alleged 10 have been sold and delivered. After hearing evidence the Bench gave judgment for defendant, with costs. H-ir-riet Mayor sued Michael Mangin for £2 tor a bicycle, und judgment was given for plaintiff. In the case of the CoimnisMoner of Taxes v 8. Brown, claim 11!' ">s lid, the amount wns p<ikl into Court. David Thomas sued Thos. IVnnol for £13-3 ISs Id. Defemlaut. on the advice ol his solicitor, asked trr a detailed statement of the account, aud after examining this, admitted the claim, and judgment was given lor t!u> pin in tiff by consent. Judgment ly dct-iult was granted in the following cases:—H. Alcorn v H. Bitnou. UlO and costs; Heid and Grey v O'Reilly Bros., 117 IDs I'd. At the imnuiil meeting of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, the --nnual reiiort showed that the number cl coniniuiiicants on tho Church roll was KiO. and that since last August therf* had been 32 baptisms and 17 marnage3. The balance-sheet showed the income for the year to have been £boO 19s Cd, while the expenditure was £594 4s 'id, leaving a credit balance of £55 4s Bd. The balance-sheet of tho Outfields T'und showed that the year's income had omou 11 tod to £115 5s 9d, and had been oil absorbed by th© expenditure. A very siiceesstul fancy dross rollerskating carnival was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Wednesday ovening, over seventy ladies and gentlemen taking part in a series of competitions. The thirteenth annual general meeting of tho Dorcas Society was held on Thursday aitcrnoon, and was presided over by the Itev. E. Whitohouso. 'llie report showed tnat in nodition to meeting local requirements the society hati been able to send twenty-four gaiments to the Christohurch Refuge, and tiiat altogether 421 garments had been attributed. The officers elected for tiie ensuing yrar were:—President, Mrs John Orr; vii"H*--pro-.iuents, Mesdames M. Friedlander, F. Standish, \V. Warn, D. Wood «nd E. Trevor; secretary, Mrs M. Friedlander; assistant secretary, Miss K. Friedlander; treasurer, Mrs R Friedlander; lady visitor, Mrs Trevor. A sitting of the Old Age Pension Court was held yesterday, when Mr V. G. Day, S.M., granted renewals of fifteen pensions.
VALETTA. A petition is being signed; in the Maynuld district asking tho Government to build a railway ganger's cot* tag© near the Valetta station, on tho Mount Somens branch line, with a view to preventing the pilfering that is going on tliere.
