CONSIDERABLE SHORTAGE IN DUNEDIN, • j*^ , (SHKJUL TO "THB FKSS."> DUNEDIN, July K. The manager of the Taien Tenineula Company says that as a result of the long speh of dry iulfilling of British engagements ie out of the question. The extreme shortage of supplies has 'limply paralyeod the company's export trade. This is « eerious thing for the company, for it preeents the oi/por,tuinty to other countries, and that is only too readily availed of, to ■tcp in and eecure the trade New Zealand formerly poeeeesed. At present, the Company's output of butter and milk is just sufficient to cope with the local demand, and outside clients wih have perforce to go without the usual supplies of batter this season. There hae been no rain to speak of since the eevere dry spell six months ago, and if there is a dry spring, matters will assume a very serious aspect. The North Island dairy farmore h»ve had a good season, and for that reason, factories there having big supplies are in n position to place butter on the local market, and that hue a tendency to keep prices down.
