FARM LABOURERS' UNION.

A largely-attended meeting of members of the Canterbury Farm Workers' Union was held in the .Sheffield Town Hall on Monday evening. The President of the Union, Mr J. A. Mo Cullotigb, was in the chair, and addressed the meeting at considerable length. Mr E. Kennedy (organiser) nbo addressed the mooting, referring to many specific cases of hardship he hnd met with. The speakers were both heartily applauded, and votes of thanks were carried with acclamation. A meeting of the Sheffield branch was held at the conclusion of the meeting, when business of a private nature was transacted. It was decided to hold another meeting of the branch .in the following Saturday evening, for tlio purpose of selecting witnesses for the Arbitration Court case,, and to select delegates to attend a general meeting of the Union, to be held in Christchurch on the 27th inst. A publio meeting, under the auspices of the Canterbury Farm Labourers' Union, was held at Oxford on Tuesday night. Mr J. A. McCullough presided, and addressed the meeting on the advantages to be gained by unionism. He contended that tho farmers of Canterbury had been exceedingly prosperous during the past ten veurs, and that that prosperity hod induced a callous selfishness towards tho farm workers. Tho only farmers who would be affected by the work of the Union would be those who were at present exploiting the workers. Mr E. Kennedy also spoke, and both speakers were attentively listened to and frequently applauded. At the dose of the meeting a large number of those present agreed to join a branch of the Union at Cust. Otficers of tho new branch were aiso elected.
