SAMARITAN HOME.
« A meeting of the Samaritan Home Trustees was held at the Home day aftornooii. Present—Mr C. Hastings Bridge, Mr Hayra, Mrs Dunkley, Messrs Johnson and O. H. Winny. In the absence of the chairman, Mr Haves presided. Mns Dunkley having resigned, the appointment of a new trustee was postponed until nert meeting. The House Committ< > c reported that there were in the Home 19 metii, 27 women, and three children, total 49. During the two months, six men and four women had been admitted, and five men and five women had been discharged. Several women had been sent to the Home from the S.M. Court for long periods. This would keep the Home fairly full and the town gaol free of thie class? of women for some timo. The committee recommended that the Home be lighted with gas. Ono woman and two men had been ad jmitted under the Habitual Drunkards Act since last meeting. The report waa adopted. Mr Winriy and Mr Bridge were deputed to make arrangements for the re-installation of pas at the Home, an-1 tlie Hotise Committee was authorised to art on thoir report. The treasurer (Mr Witvny) reported that tho recoipte for the last two months was £308 14s 4d, and the expenditure £141 2a 10d. leaving a credit balance of £227 11s Gd.
