THE VANCOUVER AND SUEZ ROUTES. (SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") WELLINGTON, July 9. The annual PostaJ report states, n regard to tho Vancouver service, that the contract between the Fedora! Government and the Union Steam Shin Company has been extended for tw:> years, from July, under the exiting terms. A port of call at New Zealand is not mentioned in the present extension of tho service, but negotiations to that effect will bo resumed when the question of a further renewal (omee up. It ie understood that the present contractor may be prepared to Muter into a throe yeans' contract, to include a New Zealand port, and to provide a new fast steamer for the service. The Canadian Pacific Rail way Company has aJso. it is undoretood, boon considering the question of competing for the service to inchit ■ Xew Zealand, to be performed by th<> feet 14,000 ton stearrers of the Empress line, now employed in thr trade between Canada, Japan, and China. The subject ie now being considered by the British Government. As to the Suez service, negotiations are now in progress for a ■weekly service.
