Mr Biwt aaid thia waa the first case of tho kind in tlio colony, so far as a slaughtermen's award tor shop purposes -was concerned. Tlie main pointe of difference wero:—Rates of pay for Eieoo work, minimum rat© of ours of work, and holidays. Samiuel Wing, manager for Messrs Hell a by, Ltd., said ho considered Slf-a a hundred lor nheep a fair prioe. He was not aware that the smaller but* chora wore paying 335. Dr. Ilnbert Stopford said ho had served an apprentices-hip (-of four years in his own profession next door to a slaughterhouse, and had frequently gone in and done a little killing. Ho had been boycotted on account of the nctivo interest he had taken in the Union. Tho Chairman ruled that tho question of boycotting was not relevant to tlie solution- of tlio various matter-* iv dispute. The further hearing of the case wan adjourned till Monday.
