Farther particulars of. the Opuawhanga stabbing case tend to show that Bradshaw, who shot his undo and subsequently committed suicide, was mentally deranged. A settler who witnessed the tragedy states that Bissett when lying on the ground said to Bradshaw, "Boy, whatever induced you to do this?" Bradshaw replied, "My head has been full of queer notions lately. I bad an idea you came into the mill just now and dared mc to kill you." Bissett held out his hand saying. "Mervyn, give mc your hand." Bradshaw hesitated, and then shook hands in a limp manner and hurried away.
