Fr.wlds said l:o had only a limited sum ti moot similar (leiuaiuLs from all parts or the colony, and ho was sure the colony would not agree to a lorpjor borrowing policy. It was very unfortunate that localities were not required to find M>mc> portion of the cost of newschools. If he had an unlimited supply of money, ho could afford to bo very generous, but as ho -was badgered by everyone, to make provision for their needs, he found it difficult to find the money. A member of the deputation suggested thot the House would vote money if jisked to do so. Tho Minister replied that the- House would howl ngainst tho Government for borrowing too much money.
