PRESIDENT'S CUP.
Lyttelton Pirates, who until their defeat by High School on Saturday week were leading with Sydenham for tho competition, suffered another defeat on Saturday, at tha hands of Christ's College. Tho game was very fact, but College ehowed gre-nter stamina and cleverer football, although the issuewas in doubt until late in the game. In the first spell Saunders kicked a good penalty goal for College, but Morns equnlieed by scoring near the corner alter a scramble. The second spell saw some clever forward work by College, which was replied to by good linekicking, but Saunders got over, and the gome ended in favour of College by 6 points to 3, after several anxious periods, in which the Pirates were attacking strongly. Tho defence, however, was sound. Bruce, the College half, played the best game on the ground, showing endless initiative. Kaiapoi defeated Merivale B after a very even gnme- by 8 points to 6. For the winners Watson and Moran ecored trice, on© of which Hunt convertod. For tho losere J. Ford and Daw© scored tries. Christchurch defeated Old Boys by 17 points to nil. For the winners Wright, Moore, Morrison and Jones ecored tries. P. Jones converted one and Deacon kicked a penalty goal. Albion B defeated Linwood by 14 points to nil. Smith (2) and Williams (2) scored tripe, Mercer converting one. Merivale A and Richmond met on tho ground of the latter, when after a hard game, which was chiefly confined to the forwards, the former won by 14 points (a ptnalty goal, and thrc© tries —ono converted) to 3 (a try). Mr Woods officiated as referee.
