HEATHCOTE VALLEY.

Tho weekly meeting of the Literary and Debating Society was hold on Monday evening in the Methodist Schoolroom. Mr T. H. Weir occupied the chair. The subject for the evening was, "Some Hints on the Art of Public Speaking," by the President, the Rev. T. 11. Kichards. Several members asked a number of questions, which wero answered by the speaker. Votes of thanks were accorded the president and tho chairman. Mr Tasker will speak on "Socialism" at tho next meeting.
