Mr Stringer, on the other hand, stated that tho best medical opinion was that, while boric acid need in this nay might not injuriously affect adults, who did not ueo milk in great quantities, it wie liable to be deleterious to infitnte and invalids, ot whoso diet milk formed a very large part. The mo6t serious feature of the uso of euch preservatives, however, was that they could conceal decomposition when it had actually taken place. On tho charge of adding boric acid to cream, the defendant was fined 40e and costs. Tho charge of celling milk which wm not pure milk (referring to the came offence) wae dismissed.
