VESSELS ASHORE.
DUNEDIN, February IG. The Customs oilieer at Duurdin rereived tho following telegram tlm iiioriiing:—"Tho Hakiura, went ashore. k 2\ miles north of the Nujzgets at 1 .-4-1 a.m. in a dense f'o.a;. .She is lying low on to tho beach. There is no damapc to tho vessel. The crew are all safe. A heavy easterly se.i.—(Signed) Down." DUNEDIN, February 17. The latest news concerning the Rakiura states that sho is still in a safe jxisition on the b<>ach. 'Jlio tug Koputai left on Saturday night with a spare anchor, cables, and gear, and. is standin;; by about half a mile otf, waiting for tho tide, when an attempt will be mado to tow the vessel off. Tlio weather Ls clearing, but there is some doubt as to whether the tug can approach close enough to be of service. Tho French barque Marguerite Mirabana is ashore at Akatoro Beach, near Milton. Tho captain and the crew, numbering 24-, arc safe, but tbe ship is much battered rjbout. The v-pwl was bound from La Rochello to Tahiti. She had been in a fog for nine days, and tho sea was very rough. (SPKCIAT, TO '-THE TRESS.") AUCKLAND, February 16. Tho Auckland-owned scow Bravo, bound from Kaipara to Gisborne, ran ashoro about 14 miles to the eastward of Capo Maria Van Diemen on Thursday morning last. Tho Bravo left Kaipara on Tuesday last, with a cargo of timber for Poverty Bay ports. The vessel was buffeted about throughout tho night, and gomeirhere about 5 a.m. sho was carried ashore by tho sea and tho gnlo, and was piled up on a hard, sandy beach. The crew all landed safely, but the master, Captain C. Wilson, who only recently came out of the hospital, is reported as very ill. The Bravo was a vessel of 44 tons register, and was owned by Messrs A. Tankard, Jaggar, and another.
