Tbe robbery on board tlio Navua is Still shrouded in mystery, but it is believed to have boon cleverly planned and carried out in Sydney just prior to the departure of tine vessel. Tno perpetrators wore evidently familiar •with tho fact that the vessel wual'ly carried a largo mm of money on hor trip to tlio Islands, owing to there being no banks at most of th© ports of oall. It is blear, too. that by come means or other they had suocerdod in obtainint a key which oould open tho safo in whioh tho money was carried. This safe in in the purser's room, which is situated at tho after part of tho steamer. Tlie Arties of tho purser on the day of the vwhol's departure called him frecruently from his rooms, and it was during on© of these abscnoos that the robbery is supposed to have been cotrnit-tited.
