FIRE AT LAWRENCE.
4 (i-BICSS ASSOCIATION TXLEO.UM.) DUNEDIN, November 9. By a fire at Lawrence early tArn moi-ning, the Commercial Hotel and «n adjoining building, ocoupiod by Mm Smith, were destroyed. The brigade succeeded in keeping the flames from extending to Cobb and Co.'c stablea and to the "Tuapeka Times" offioe. There was a jpoucy of £100 on Mra Smith's building. Tlie Commercial Hotel was insured for £900, but the occupier, Mr Maillard, who haa only been in p-osses-sion a few week*, had no insurance on bis effects, and he lost everything.
