WOOLSTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The TVoolston Borough Council met on Monday. Present—The Mayor, Ore. Hayes, ThorM., Beaumont, Sherwood, Lister, Ozanne, and Radcliffe. Tho Mayor, alter eulogising tlio services of the late Cr. Spreadbui-y, chairman of tlie Works Committee lor sortie years, moved that the Council place on record its appreciation of his sen-cea to tho district and borough, and express ite groat sorrow ahd deepest sympathy with Mrs Spreadbury and family in their bc-ieavement. Cr. Thomas, in seconding tho motion, spoke feelingly of tho deceased, o_ did other councillor-, and the resolution was carried, the members standing. The Works Committee it>ported that they had started two gang? on concreto channelling on the Ferry road, and one gang regrading footpiths. Twenty-five i men in all were employed, and it was intended to but on a. third gang for concrete channelling shortly. The committee liad reqiiest-d tlie engineer to supply levels of Parkes street, with tlite view of lowering the _ti*eet. Messrs Lucas Bros.' tender had beer, accepted fdf sump gratings _t stjliedulo r&te. the committee recohi-.mend-d that tenders. bo invited for afepnalting both sides of tile street from Ensor'- road to Iladlcy. The rerlprt w*s ___opted. The Finance Committee reported _»eca__rts £280 7_ 10d, temporary loa-hs £665, temporary loans ropaid £450, balance £I_G5, bank Overdraft £537 14s 4d, loan account Dr. to general account £498, Heathcdte Bridge £200. Accounts Were Recommended for payment totallihg £316.1&. Of the first issue of debentures £7.00 had been taken, tip, leaving ohly £§700 to dispose of. The report Was adopted; Mr 0. K. solicitors asked the Coiiil-il to accefet £40 oh account of *=hort delivery of metal oh new, streets.
