THE BEUGES AND GOODMAN OASES.
SUPREME COURT PROCEEDINGS. ACCUSED FOUND GUILTY. SENTENCE DEFERRED. In the Supremo Court yesterday, before Mr Justice Cooper, tho cates against Francis Henry Bruges, solicitor, and James Goodman, clerk, both of Christchurch, canio up for hearing. Mr Myers (Crown Prosecutor, Wellington) conducted the case for the Crown; Mr Russell appeared for Bruges, and Mr Hanlon (Dunedin) and Mr Donnelly for Goodman. The indictmonts taken wero that they did steal £1200, the property of Henry Tuck, on March 2nd, 1901; and further, that they did steal £200 on April Ist, 1903, the property of Henry Tuck. Both prisoners pleaded '-Not guilty." On the application of Mr Russell and Mr Hanlon, prisoners wero allowed to sit at the side of counsel, the latter submitting that there wore so. many matters of accounts to be dealt with that it would bo very inconvenient to ciindiict the. defence otherwise.
