A BRUTAL ATTACK.

(press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, August 11. A man named Arthur Ware had half of his nose bitten off at a boardinghouse at Clyde quay last evening." He appeared at the Police Court to-day as the informant in a case in which Francis tStephen Hart was charged with having assaulted him. Both men are labourers, and are said to have lodged at the same house. Sub-Inspector O'Donovan said that the case would havo to be dealt with as an - indictable one, and obtained an adjournment until Friday in order to see bow the informant progressed. The doctor who examined Ware said that it was one of the worst cases that he hid ever seen, a large part of the left side of the nose being partly detached. The accused, on being aeked to plead, aaid: "He assaulted mc first."
