ARBITRATION COURT.
♦— Mr Justice Chapman (President) and Messrs 8. Brown and R. Slater held a brief sitting of tlje Arbitration Court yesterday. Nothing was done, except to fix dates for cases set down far hearing. It was stated that four of the ton compensation claims set down would be contested, the disputes in each, case being eolely as to the amount of compensation. The remaining cases were settled, except fort the decieion of eurh matters as costs. His Hbnour stated that the whole of the compensation oases would bo taken on Friday, August 17th, the Court sitting at 10 a.m. The motion of the Canterbury Shearers' Union against the Canterbury Sheepowners' Union would be taken on Monday, August 13th. The Court that motions for extension should also be ready on that day. The Court would sit at 10.90 ajn. at the Provincial Council Chambers, and wished ttie parties to bo pesent in the following oases:—Carpenters' Union r. BuiHeTs'Aseociatipn, Painters' Unionv. Manihire and otbene, Canterbury Timber Yards Worked Union v. Hamniett and others, Federated Tailoresses , Union v. Clothing MamifactureTe. The dates for hearing char gee of breach of award would probably Bβ announced at Monday's sitting.
