Mr J. F. Caircra presided. Tho Chainmn staled the objects of tho mooting, and Mr Nntt moved: — '"That this meeting of ratepayers of North Linwood, of t-lio Hcathcoic Rrnd District, requests the ch-ninran of tho Uentlicote- Haiti Eoai-J to take a poll of.the irat-? payers of North Linwood on tli-a propcß-al to raise a loan of £5300, as advr>rtis.-d." ! The motion was (seconded by Mr Ar-rou-^irith. The".Education Board, however, had declined to establish a»schcol for tho district, owing to its being within two miles of a public school. Ho thought, however, that if a committeewore°appointed from the present meet- : inp something would be done in tho way of providing a bcJmjol. Another gentleman mentioned that a similar committee had been formed to canvass tho district nertli cf tho Dallingt-cn bridge. It was decided to ask both committees to amalgamate and sco what could ba done in the matter.
