(SPECIAL TO "tHS PRESS.") DtJNEMN, July 13. Although the exact amount collected for Mr 'Farquharson, the Rhodes scholar, has not been disclosed, it was 6tated at a meeting last evening that the replies to the circular requesting for a total of about £175 had been very generous—in fact, so much was collected that it was agreed that all who had sent cheques should have tho balance above three guine.-is returned to them. The reason for this was that a similar appeal to the public might occur annually, and in each year the sum realised should not bo more than enough to send tho echolar Home deoently. A syndicate is boing formed to work a valuable antimony field at Alexandra South. The claim consiets'of 100 fierce. It is estimated that the mine will yield an output of 100 tons a mouth, and the gross value of this, if it contain* 40 per cent, 'of antimony, would be £-1000. The cargo of tho steamer Rose Casey, ashore on tho New River bar, is iner.red in tho National Office for £180, the Standard for £50, and tho China Traders Insurance for £10.
