NURSE MAUDE'S CONSUMPTION CAMPS.
A JUVENILE BAZAAR TO RAISE FUNDS. The enthusiasm being displayed in Mrs Maude's scheme for holding a huge juvenile bazaar in aid of Nurse Maude's Consumption Gampe augurs well for the success of the venture. Mrs Maude is working without a. committee, taking on her own shoulders the burden of directing and organising tho function, and while tho task is onerous she finds the method more satisfactory than any system of divided control. With tho assistance of a number of willing helpers, the scheme is shaping itself very satisfactorily, and the offers of co-opera-tion and assistance pouring in from ell sides have been gratifying in the extreme. The bazaar is to bo held imder tho prvtronago of Lady Plnnkct; Sir John Ilall has consentod to become president, while a number of legislators, including the Hons. C. C. Bowen, J. E. Jenkinson, H. F. Wigram, and most of the North Canterbury members, have been made vice-presidents. ''Already the cooperation of the children of an exceedingly large number of schools throughout tlio district has been secured, and Mrs Maude has had responses to her appeal from public and private schools and children of all sects and denominations, as well as from many private individuals. In the original scheme provision was made for ten largo stalls, but since then this number has increased by five. One of these, to ho known as tlie "Wharctu'' jumble stall, has been practically given over to an old lady of seventy, who Is keenly interested in tho movement, «nd with some little assistance is providing most of the articles to be "placed' upon it. Stalls have also boon assigned to tho Normal School, to tho school carried on by the Mi?sos Reeves and Ross, to Mrs liowen's girls, to Mrs McKce's school. Avonside, and to pupils of Mrs Gardiners' Domestic School of Cookery, and Mijs Gibion (High School). Tho East Chri-tchurch School will also be responsible for a stall, while yet another will bo under the management of Mis? Field and a band of choir boys. Tlie I Garrison ami Woolston bands, and a number of volunteers aro also lending their assistance. Speaking to a " Press*' reporter yesterday, Mis Maude outlined what had ! already bee.n done, and spoke very confidently of the succor of the bazaar. ' whicli opens in. the King Edward BarI racks on the 2nd of August.
