May 25th. TO THE KDtTOK OT "THE FKK3S." Sir, —Your correspondent, "Tram Rider," tries to meet the arguments of "IV.le.strian" and "Ratepayer," who very rightly think that the duties of a member of the Board and of tin M.H.R. would clash, by pointing out that the Board might consult the convenience of thoir Parliamentary menil>ers by altering tho Board day from Thursdays to Mondnyfi. "Tram Rider ,, evidently supposed, or affects to .suppose, that the principal work of :i member is dono nt the fortnightly meeting reported in the papers, lie is either very badly informed or oho is deliberately throwing dust in tho eyes of the public. By far the greater proportion of the work is done by sub-com-mittees, which moot probably four timos to one full Board meeting. That i-s where tho work is done; that is, the most important work which M.H.R.'s must eso;ipo or neglect, if they do their duty in Parliament; but 1 don't think sub-committee work is much to the taste of an M.H.R. I know—ho likee to have a newspaper reporter at his elbow when ho is on the job.—Yours, etc., NO SHIRKER.
