k«UCSe ASSOCIATION TKLKGHAM.« WANGANTJL May 34. The Wanganui J.C.s Winter Meeting wan commenced to-day in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance of tho public, including visitors from all parts of the colony. Tho racing was of a most interesting description all through, some close finishes and large dividends resulting. The course •was a trifle heavy, as tho result of recent rains, but it did not cut up to any great extent. The Wanganui Steeplechase was a beautiful race, and provided a splendid display of jumping. Tho winner, Eurue. who had been doing excellent work on the tracks, was always in a good position, and won with something to spare. Phaetontie fell when occupying a good position, and apparently going well. Nadador also ran a fine race. Playfair was close behind Eurus when he ran off at the jump. The totaKsator investments amounted to £10,756, as against £3232 the first day last year, an increase ot £1521.
