PENINSULA SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
The antuial meeting of the Peninsula .Sports Association was hold at Akaroa on Saturday. There was a good attendance, and 31 r A. Gray occupied the chair. The annual report and balancss J heet were, read, tho iatt-er showing a. credit balance of about £16. It was I umuiimously decided that a sports gathering t>B held- on the Akaxoa Recreation Ground oa Empire. Day, and that tho Itorough Council be asked for the ii 33 of tho ground, and that it be put in order for racing. The following officers ■wo.ro elected for the ensuing year:— Patron, tha Hon. W. -Montgomery. president, Mr H. C. Orbell; vice-preei-d.nts, Messrs 11. H. Rhodes, M.H.R C. Burland, W. K. Virtue, A. H. Hille, K. X. Li'lievrp, an:J Dr. Hargreaves ; handicapped, Mes-irs Lectc, Daly, and T. Penlington; judges, Messrs Jirnce, Newton., Cl'.eckk-y, and Niper; starter, •Mr 11. 0. Robin-cti; JtinK-keept-rs, Messrs Lelievro and Virtue; secret a r> , , Mr C. Goodwin; committee, Messrs Gray, Michcll. L. Vangioni, Let-'te, Nosnau, Pcole, Penlington, G. Ami Dhely, B. Herniag. A hearty vo.o ot thankt> was passed to Mr Armstrong for his pa?t pervicre ac sec-rotary. Mr Armstrong, in acknowledging it, returned thanks to the meeting for t*he handsome clock which had boon presented to him. The following recommendations wore made to tha new committee: —Thai 120 yds Hurdles be substituted for -l-lOyd*; that handicaps in lOOyc!* l>o Kmited to 10yd,; I'OOyds to 20yd«; •UOyds to 35yds. ir.iaidens to have half limit, and that tijveral raoc* for children lx» added to tho programme.
