United Prer9 Association—By Elwtric IWegrwpb—^CopjrriS'hlt. PIETERMARITZBURG, May 4. A magistrate and a policeman, while tax collecting, were lirod at by natives near Mahlabitini, Zululand. The magistrate, Mr Stainhank, accompanied Ly his wife and another lady, end a policeman named Fellaros, collected tlie poll tax unopposed till they reached the south bank of t-he Umvoloso river, on tho Vryheid border •where the natives fired a volley at them ■without- warning. The two men wero wounded. Tho party, without being further molested, fled ten miles to Mahlabitini, where Mr Stainhank, on reaching the Courthouse, expired. Fellaros, however, is still alive.
