Denham -and Bushell headed a forward rush into the Green.?' territory, good work hy tho Linwood baekis paving the latter. Fryer -was prominent in stemming a rush by the Greens, who (shortly alter forced the Re cm from a free luck. A passing rush by Fraser and Aynslcy gave the latter a chance, -which he f.iil<k! to avail himself of. A lire-kick by a Limvood back enabled Den ham to eecure a mark in a good position. Fryer taking the kick, and registering the first i=coro for Christchurch. Ormandy wan conspicuous with a fine run, Martin and Fryer retrieving the position. A rush by Evans and Harvey compelled the RecW fo force. After the kick out Fryer made a line opening, and transferred tho ball to Munro, the latter tumbling. Fraser shortly afterwards secured the hill, and evading the opposition gave Linwood a chance, Ormandy touching down from a lncso rush. Eraser** kick at goal failed, and the first spoil ended with honours even. Walter resumed by kicking cfl for ; Christchurch, Templet on finding the lino with <i good kick.
