MR ROBERT BROUGH.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 20th, 9.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 20. The death is announced of Mr Robert Brough, the well-known actor. Ho had been ailing for some** time, the/ cause of death being heart affection. [Mr Brough oatno out to Melbourne in 1885. He first visited Christchfroh some yeans ago with a burlesque company, tho bright particular star of which was Miss Fanny Robina. Mr Brough hfciself was excellent in "Little Jack bTieppard" and "The Forty Thieves." Subsequently, in conjunction with Dot Boucicault he formod the Brougli and Boucicault Comedy Company, and played a series of highclass comedies. In this line of the drama he stood alone, and his productions have never been, equalled l , in the colonies. Ho paid several visits to New Zoaland after tho severance of tho partnership between Mr BouckauU and himself. On. all these occasions the performances of Mr Brough, ably assisted by Mrs Brough, were marked. by a very high degree of excellence. Some little time back Mr and Mrs Brough decided to retire from management in Australasia, and they gave a series of farewell performances in New Zealand, *verywhere great -regret being expressed at their a-etirameut. After a short rest in England a partner--ship was formed with Mr Herbert Flemming, and "Beauty and the Barge," "Little Mary," and other pieces were played here. Subsequently the Company went to Australia, where Mr Brough broke down under the illness which has terminated his life. The deepest regret will be felt, not only by playgoers Qiroughout New Zealand, but also by a wide circle of personal friends, and Mrs Brough will have the sincere sympathy of a large number of people in her bereavement.]
