The Shipping Services Commission will probably report that the establishment of a Commonwealth-owned line of steamers is not advisable, though such a line may become necessary if the operations of the* combine prove detrimental. COMMONWEALTH BUTTER INDUSTRY. The shipment of butter from tho Commonwealth to the United Kingdom for tho season has been 23,842 tons, an increase of 1637 tons on the previous season. A PRONOUNCEMENT AGAINST RITUALISM. MELBOURNE, April 20. Archbishop Clarke has made a pronouncement in reference to recent ritualistic practices at St. Peter's, Eastern Hill. He states :—"ln this dioceso I cannot sanction or permit any ceremonial or Liturgical use of incense." SYDNEY, April 20. As a consequence of the fires in the mine a slip has occurred in tho shaft of the junction North Mine at Broken Hill. Tho shaft is practically destroyed.
