-.PECIAL TO 'THE I'HKSS. -. WELLINGTON, April 20. The New Zealand Insurance Co. is tho only office having its headquarters in New Zealand that holds risks in San Francisco. Tho amount received in premiums by this company from risks held in the city of San Francisco for the year ended December 31st, 1005, was about £5850. The value of tho business 'Svritten" tnroughout California by the company for the year was about £1,137,370, and the total leasepaid amounted to £5600. The Royal Office is also largely interested. The premiums from its San Francisco business last year amounted to over £16,000. A fair estimate of the enormous risks held by the 105 companies doing business in San Francisco can be made when it is stated that tho total amount paid in premiums last year amounted to ft shade under £000,000. In connection with tho fires in San Francisco, iris stated th© South British Company retired from business there in 1890, and, in conjunction with the National and Standard Companies, is not a participant in insurance business in any part of the United States.
