ANXIETY IN WELLINGTON.
NO WORD FROM TOE NEW ZEALAND AGENT.
(SPECI.U, TO ''THE PRESS.") WELLINGTON, April 20. Many anxious enquiries continue to be made here by people who have r ri©nr_ or relatives living in San Francisco, but of course very few private cable messages arc able to get through. At 5 a.m. to-day Vancouver advised that there was no outlet to San Francisco, San Jose, or Oakland, and that all other Californian points were subject to heavy delay. A number of Wellington citizens asked Mr W. H. P. Barber, M.H.R., to approach the Premier with the object of ascertaining the condition of the many New Zealanders who were resi-dc-n.t. in San Francisco. Mr Banner interviewed the Premier on tho subject, and Mr Sodden informed him that he had already tried to get into touch with the New Zealand agont in San Francisco, having cabled to Mr Smith yesterday, but had not received any reply.
