GampbellBannerman, the British Premier, suppressed Chinese labour on the Rand, it would seriously injure the gold indretry and proeperity of South Africa, and would mean tho committing of as serious a blunder as when tho late Mr Gladstone signed the Majuba Convention, which followed the disastrous defeat of General Colley at Majuba Hill.
