FIRES.
On Wednesday night a fire occurred in a house in Victoria street, through tho binds catching fire. Tho alarm was given, but tho fire was extinguished before tlie brigade arrived. On Thursday morning, about 11.30, n fire broke out in the chop of Mrs Pavis, milliner, Colombo street, . near Wrigglesworth and Binns. It originated in the back room from some articles catching fire at the stove. The fire was 6peodily extinguished. The damage done amounted to between £20 and £30. (PHESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) WELLINGTON, April 12. Early this morning a six-roomed house in Mortimer Crescent, belonging to Captain Maxwell, was dertroyed by fire. The building wa6 insured in tihe Standard Office for £650, and there was a poiicy of £350 on the furniture. NEW r PLYMOUTH, April 12. A houso at Fitzroy, belonging to E. Nope, of Inglewood, was destroyed by fire last night. It was insured for £500 in the South British Company, and the occupier, Hansen, had a small policy on the furniture.
