THE STEPHENSON MUSICAL COMEDY COMPANY.
Tho very successful oomio opera, "A Moorish Maid," the music of which, is by Mr Alfred Hill, the well-known composer, flmd the libretto and lyrics by Mr J. G. Birch, will bo produced for the first time hero by Mr George Stephenson's Comic Opera Company. The revised version of the onora is said to afford tTio vario'.v. members of Mr Stephrason's talented company excellent opportunities, both vocr.lly and histrionically. Tho locality im which tho story of the opera is laid lends itself to ritage pictures and scenery, and every has been taken of this. Mr Hill hois, it is said, fairly excelled himself in the* mus : <r<l numbere with, which tho work abounds, so that Ohristahurch playgoers may look forward to a sreat treat on the occasion of the production of the opera here. In Miss Rcfiini Buckmnmin Mr St«?phe>nsnn has been fortunite in obtaining one of the- most promising of young New operatic artistes. Mis* May ■Roatty. E. Liuri. C. McNaughton, and tho Boris Bn*;. have all strong parts in the opera. The Reason will be a short one, as the comnany proceeds to Sydney.
