NEW ZEALAND'v. MELBOURNE CLUB. Owing to the heavy rain on Saturday, play could not bo resumed in the match between the Now Zealand Eleven and tho Melbourne Club's team. The nvatch will be continued at noon to-day. The members of both teams were hospitably entertained by Mr Charles Clark, at his residence, Thorrincton.
THE FRANKISH BENEFIT. The Canterbury selector lias chosen the following coltp to play in the match against the Melbourne Club team for the benefit of F. S. Fnankish:—AlLard, Anthony, Cook. Crawshatv, Fuller, Fryer. ' Lawre.ncrs Mahar. Pattrick, Read, Johnston, Vernon, Vincent (captain). and White. Practice will lie held at Hagley Park on Tuesday and Wednesday at four o'clock. A return match between the Christchurch Veterans and the Union Brewery was played at Hagley Park on Thursday. Scores:—Veterans 174 (Dann 4i),"McNae and Stillwell 32 each, Preeco 15. Fornyth 13): Union Brewery 43 (Dingle 12, Weston 11, Hat chard 10), and U9 (Free 46. Hickmott, jun., 12, Din&le 11). Goring, Dann. and Haddrill, and Free *m Weston bowled beet for their respective sides.
