The annual report and balance-eheet of the Wellington and Manawatu Railnay Company, to be presented at the twenty-fifth annual meeting of shareholders on Wednesday, ehowe that the gross earnings of the railway were £132,460, which mm is greater by £4728 than the amount taken in the year preceding. Land was sold during the year to the value of £13.548. The directors recommend a dividend of 4 per cent, for the half-year, making (with the- interim dividend paid in. September last) 7 per cent, for the year on the paid-up capital of the company. The receipts amounted to £164.836, and the expenditure to £150.299. A sum of £4500 is carried to maintenance of line, insurance, and contingencies, and a balance of £11.264 is carried down available for dividends. The groas traffic proceeds of £132,460 have an expenditure of £75,280 Get against them. The railway and the rolling stock of the company have had £202,086 written off their value, which now stands at £821.393.
