MR BALFOUR'S- QUESTIONS.

Kitson, to onab'e the House-, without stultifying iteeif, to broaden taxation in tjmQS of emergency or for purposes of great national reform, was ignored. Sir H;- Campbell-Bannerman, instead of answering the questions submitted, allowed minor speakers to proceed: When the Premier refused to answer questions, Mr Chamberlain thereupon claimed an answer, "and moved the adjournment of the House. Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman taunted Mr Balfonr -with using subtle methods and airy, graces of learning. He said ho did nothing to defeat the resolution, because its two subjects were in the forefront of tho Oppositionists'. policy. Mr Balfour's speech was unworthy of the occasion, end his arguments were contradictory. After comparing the questione, Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman declared: "So far ac 1 have not answered them, I have no direct answer to givo to questions which are futile, nonsensical, and misleading. 1 cay enough of thie foolery I Produce your amendments." The motion, by 405 to 115, was negatived. Mr Snowden moved an amendment demanding large* measures of social reform. The debate wae adjourned.
